These discontinued Costco items were the best!
Costco is one of the giants of the American retail industry, and as we can easily observe, this store will remain on top for a while. This is perfect because I personally love this place! You probably love it too. Why? The multitude of items we can find here is undeniable.
From food to cleaning products and snacks, I prefer to buy everything from Costco. Yes, you need to be aware that you will need to buy in bulk, but if this is a possibility for you, just do it. In the end, you will see that it is more advantageous.
But like every big store, there are some discontinued Costco items that I personally still think about. They were amazing, and I can’t understand why they decided to make us say goodbye to them.

Kirkland Signature 100% Mediterranean Blend Oil
Ah, this oil used to be the hero of my kitchen! Right now, this is one of the discontinued Costco items I miss the most because there is nothing that can save my dishes more than this oil blend used to. Every time something was not going right, I just added a few drops of this, and my food instantly started to taste better.
Sometimes, I call this the Costco golden elixir, because it used to be so good! For frying, baking, sautéing, and even drizzling over salads, this oil was wonderful and versatile. The rich flavor made it a staple in my kitchen.
Unfortunately, Costco decided to discontinue this beloved blend. This was tragic news for me. They still offer a large variety of amazing oils, but nothing compares to this Mediterranean marvel.
I can totally get that product lineups evolve, and sometimes items are phased out due to various factors like sourcing challenges or shifting consumer preferences, but this is one of the discontinued Costco items that didn’t deserve this.
In the meantime, I remain hopeful that Costco might consider bringing back this fan favorite. Until then, I’ll keep experimenting with other oils.
Primal Kitchen Buffalo Sauce
I still remember the first time I spotted Primal Kitchen’s Buffalo Sauce at Costco. I was looking for something different, something that could pair well with most dishes while also bringing something new into my life. This might sound confusing, but you probably know that feeling of looking for a new taste that somehow tastes familiar, right?
And then here it was, this sauce that was paleo, keto-friendly, and vegan, and made with avocado oil instead of butter? It sounded perfect for me! I grabbed a bottle, and then I realized that I could use it for everything from cauliflower bites to scrambled eggs. The following week, I came back and bought 12 bottles. This sauce was incredible.
What was that terrine? But just as quickly as it appeared, it vanished. Yup. This is on the list of discontinued Costco items, and I can’t understand why. If you ask me, this item should never have been on this list, as it was perfect.
Hopefully, even if you are not able to find this sauce at Costco, you can still buy it from Amazon or Target. I have to pay double for it and do more planning ahead, but in the end, I am still able to eat my food as I like, and this is the most important thing for me.
Pulmuone Potstickers
The Pulmuone Chicken Potstickers are among the discontinued Costco items, but when I first discovered them, it was love at first bite. These Korean-inspired dumplings were the perfect snack. Filled with crisp vegetables and tender chicken, these dumplings used to be my trusted food when I needed something quickly.
The only thing about them is that at some point, they vanished without a trace. What an unfortunate thing to happen, right? They are for sure one of the most missed discontinued Costco items, and lots of people want them back.
While Costco still offers various tasty frozen meals, none have quite filled the void left by these potstickers. But I’ve heard rumors that you can still find them at other retailers. Unfortunately, I still haven’t found them.
Kirkland Signature Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips
If you are the type who loves cookies, then this massive 4.5-pound bag is perfect for you, like it was perfect for me! They were rich, smooth, and dairy-free, perfect for anyone who struggles with food allergies.
I liked to add them to pancakes and also simply take a couple of them in my bag whenever I was on the run. They are now one of the discontinued Costco items, and as much as I love Costco, I hate them for taking my cookies from me.
Costco discontinued them and then replaced them with Nestlé Toll House chips. Don’t get me wrong, Nestlé has its merits; their cookies are very good, but they are not the same as the Kirkland version. These were the OG cookies, and they are irreplaceable.
But what caused the cookies to disappear? The skyrocketing cocoa prices! Cocoa is now 200% more expensive than it used to be, and the signature chips they had sold at a competitive price were no longer a good option. This is why Nestlé replaced them.
Pots Fudge Lava Cake
This is probably my favorite one of the discontinued Costco items because those elegant ceramic pots and the rich, gooey chocolate simply stole my heart. This wasn’t just a dessert; this was THE dessert. The dessert of my dreams, and the best part was that I didn’t need to cook it myself. Generally, I don’t like store-bought desserts, but this one was perfect, and the sad part is that this is no longer available. What a shame.
The Pots Fudge Lava Cake was made with single-origin Colombian chocolate, and the center was full of molten fudge that, once you warmed it up, transformed into the perfect sweet treat to ever exist, at least for me.
Unfortunately, one day, when I went to Costco to buy this item and I glanced my eyes over the price tag, and there was the dreaded asterisk. If you don’t know, this is the sign of discontinuation in Costco language, and every time I see this on the price tag of my favorite items, I get really sad.
While Costco no longer carries them in the U.S., if you happen to go across the pond, you will find this fantastic dessert there. Yeah, the English are luckier than us because they can still indulge themselves in the fudge lava cake. For now, I will just cherish the memories and the ceramic pots that I am using as yogurt bowls and succulent planters.
